Are you waiting to be enchanted by historic Basel and meet fellow WordPressers at the Congress Center? Then we understand your feelings! This year, the MotoPress team will be there in Basel, Switzerland, to celebrate the grand event of WordPress Europe 2025 together with you.

If you are reading this, most likely you already have your WordCamp tickets! We’re happy to meet you for hallway talks, lunch, or during the sessions (though probably not on the Sydney track 😀). Look for us in blue or orange T-shirts!

We have been to WordCamps in different roles – attending, recording interviews, and sponsoring WordCamps – but each time it’s super energizing and motivating! This time, we’ll be walking around, having fun, talking about the weather, Fastenwähe, and business with you (so get ready 😎!).

We are ready to talk about any of our products – but want a sneak peak? The MotoPress brand is about to expand with a brand-new plugin to strengthen our flagship lineup of booking solutions! Now your MotoPress stronghold in the booking world is iron!

There are probably even a few slots left for a deeper conversation June 6-7: Book in-Person Meeting at WordCamp

If you are a newcomer, though, whether a freelancer or a company representative, we’ve got a few WordCamp tips and life hacks that might come in handy!

Together with Viktoriia (we’ve been WordCamp travel partners for three years in a row!), we’ve come up with this list of tips to make you feel more comfortable in this new world. Hope you enjoy it.

WordCamp Tips from MotoPress Nomads

Time flies at the conference, and at the end of the day, you want it to be a rewarding commitment. Improvised moments are joyful but you also want to be well-briefed for the best memories and outcomes.

Arrive earlier than the official dates

The joy (and hussle 😀) of visiting a WordCamp begins before the official conference days. Arriving earlier, you’ll get more time to rest after the trip, explore the city, and show up at the cool side events (you registered, right?).

Choose your topics

The industry experts are there for you to pick up their brain – pick the talks that interest you most in advance. The schedule is always public many days ahead. Learn more about the topics and the speakers. You can even make a list of questions to ask the speaker after the presentation.

Plan your outcomes aka have a mission

Wish it were that easy, right? But even if you’re attending just for fun or to learn something new (to ask which page builder they use!), have a mission. If you’re a business or agency, think about realistic goals (talk to potential customers, exchange links, land an interview?) and walk into that entrance hall knowing exactly what you want to do (after having your coffee, of course).

How to network?

Are you here to network? Oh-oh. Introverts have an exam at WordCamp. One of the easiest ways to start a conversation is by chatting with people at the sponsor booths, they’re literally there to talk. If possible, come with a larger team. The more people, the more things can be done on different frontlines.

Prepare exclusive options for those curious minds

In-person meetings that happen once a year are a great chance to prepare exclusive product discounts or affiliate offerings for those who ask!

Start local community chats

Do you know someone from your region who’s also attending the conference? If you find it hard to find a company for a beer in the evening, it makes sense to start or join a local chat group to have a warmer experience.

A lot of ‘walkie-talkie’ requires a pair of good shoes

Summer and summer conferences mean lots of walking and talking. Wear comfortable shoes, stay hydrated, and remember: comfort is key to staying productive and happy.

Accommodation near the conference venue is usually a better choice

Well, unless you are an early bird, living in the vicinity of the conference will save you a lot of energy on commuting. And if you are booking an Airbnb, do ensure you’ve contacted the host at least a day before your arrival (learned that the hard way – don’t ask)!

Carpe diem and post to your accounts right away

WordCamp memories and emotions expire quickly – at least when it comes to the buzz on social media. Prepare your social network strategy and carve out a few quiet minutes to post what you want to share. Seems obvious – but do use mentions and hashtags! Take pictures and record videos – such not AI-generated content will get more love online. So, photos, photos, photos… and videos!

Prepare cool swag and outstanding T-shirts

If you want to give away some swag, or simply look memorable, think outside the box when creating branded things to represent your brand at WordCamp. The bolder your look, the more photographers will hunt you down! Psss, we’ve got some swag, too!

Get prepared for the ‘Where do I find you?’ questions

QR codes, business cards or any other contacts, such as links to your site, LinkedIn or other networks all play a role. There might be long and short conversations, and you don’t want to waste time figuring out how to make it easy for people to reach you.

That’s it, do you have something to add to our WordCamp tips?

P.S. Valerie from our team has recorded a cool video about the latest WordPress trends – why not watch it now?

Bis später in Basel!
