We have tested theme and could not see the error you mentioned. Please make sure you have added Google map widget to Map Section and configured it correctly i.e. applied valid API key, filled your location details, etc. Also specify versions of theme, Emmet Theme Engine plugin and WordPress.

Unfortunately it is not possible to go to see subcategory after you click at parent category block. Child categories are defined as independent categories.
If you want to show your child categories you can try adding Parent Category shortcode as List. Then you will see the child cateories below it

Or by adding them as different shortcodes.

In order to modify background color of entire site you can add the style below to Appearance>Customize>Additional CSS (or style.css if you use Child theme):

} 

As for front page so you need to edit background of each section individually. You can ask me here you search for similar topics
