I love that the updated booking calendar no longer makes it seem like available dates are unavailable when weekly bookings are required. However, I’m worried that the new system will be frustrating to guests who have to repeatedly enter dates because there is no indication of what dates are available or what the booking rules are.
Why are guests sent to a different version of the booking confirmation page when their dates do not meet booking rules? This is very confusing because we’ve put custom text on the booking confirmation page for when the guest is checking out and now that custom text displays above the error code.
So in short, we’re really glad that guests are no longer being turned away, but think there is A LOT of room for improvement. The current system is REALLY not user friendly.
Homeaway does a really good job is distinguishing “booked/blocked” days from days where check-in is not available due to booking rules. They also are very specific about why your selected dates don’t work – not just “Selected dates do not meet booking rules for type Camp Hatteras” (which is not great customer-oriented language). There was an issue at Hotel Booking 3.7.4 version which has been fixed by the release of new version 3.7.5. Make sure to update plugin and test the availability form again.
