Is it possible to do either of these two things?
1. On the Bookings Calendar in the admin, is it possible to change the calendar to display the customer name vs. the booking ID? It is impossible to rollover every booking to find the correct one for any given day.
2. When synced to Google Calendars (which does show the customer name btw), is it possible to have the modal window that comes up when clicking on the booking contain a link back to the edit screen within my site?

Unfortunately those options you described are not possible. You may learn the details of reservation clicking on it in back-end calendar.
