Shortcodes in DIVI 5 not working

I’m building a yacht charter booking site using the Appointment Booking Plugin. I’ve not been able to get the shortcodes to work in the Divi 5 page builder. I have been able to get the Gutenberg blocks to work using an identical configuration.

I created a custom shortcode and used the plain appointment_form version. In both cases they sit and spin the loading graphic

Steps taken:
• Plugin is activated
• Javascript is not minified or deferred
• The testing page is exempt from cache
• Service category, services, employee, location, schedule are all configured
• all additional needed pages are created

It seems to work as intended with a Gutenberg block.
