Show One-Off Events in Calendar

I have a calendar with a day column for each day of the week.

I want to add a one off event so created a new date column for the event (20170112) and added the event,however when I then create a calendar with all columns I get 20170112 as a column, as well as the week days. The event shows in upcoming events OK but is it possible for the event to be shown under the Thursday Column as this is when the event takes place?

If not then it may be worth looking at a calendar view as well as column/weekly view to show one off events.

I’m sorry but I’m not really sure I understand your question correctly. Could you specify it more detailed? Screenshot and examples are appreciated.
